My Latest Hang-up

I've been feeling noticeably unproductive and un-crafty lately, but a quick lee-tle project today has put a spring in my step.

I repurposed a thrift store bulletin board that I had previously spray painted black, topped with fabric and added a little trim to. It was languishing in my basement gift wrapping station because frankly, if something can't be thrown in a gift bag, I'm not that interested in "wrapping" it.

A change of location to this vanity nook in the bedroom, and now I have a fun place to display my necklaces, tangle-free. I used cute push pins with typewriter symbols on them that I already had.

I am so excited! From the collection of vintage jewelry boxes also on the vanity, you can see I have no shortage of space to hold jewelry, but I just love this fun and funky board!

Love it! I need a better system for my necklaces. I sort of have a necklace obsession. I probably have about 75. I have a series of hooks on the back of the bedroom door, and that's where they are. It's OK, but not ideal.

Super cute - I have one of those too! We made it years ago - I should share a pic on my blog too! Good idea Anna! Hope you're having a good - healthy -- weekend!

Super cute! Pioneer Woman has been on a jewelry organization binge of late, too. But her's weren't crafty. :)

such a great idea! I asked for a necklace hanger for christmas, did not get it. Maybe I can rig one of these up, I love it! Thanx for the idea!

I use a bulletin board hung in my closet to store my necklaces. Works great! (But I just went to Office Depot...)

I love the whole set-up - what a jewelry collection you have! I want something like that so much but I know my cats would end up eating all the necklaces...

Love, love this! I was just thinking how I need a place for my necklaces! I'm totally going to do this. Thanks Anna!

What a great idea! I'm such a fashion minimalist... my four necklaces would look pathetic on that cute board.

Your vanity and room layout are very YHL-y. Neato!

Congrats on the project. Wish you would snap your fingers and create one for me too.

That's a great way to keep necklaces untangled--and out of the reach of little hands!

Love the results, and I especially love the vintage jewelry boxes! I especially love the boxes because my Mom has an exact one (the one on the bottom, second from the left) on her dresser, still filled with some of the 'treasures' my sister and I would buy her when we scrapped together some money to buy what amounted to cheap necklaces! I love this idea!

I love this idea. Mine are always getting so knotted up.

great idea, I hardly change necklaces because I'm too lazy to dig through my jewelry box.

Cute title for your post! Love the necklace board! I've been meaning to make one, but with all my cheap costume jewelry, the board would likely cover an entire wall. That said, I am also supremely envious of your vintage jewelry boxes and the nook where they reside.

wow. i love that. if i had something like that i wouldn't have necklaces draped all over my bureau mirror and they wouldn't rattle every time someone walked by.
they wouldn't tangle every time i wanted to wear one.

they'd almost be "art."

super cute idea.

My little sister has a similar board up in her closet, hers is wire mesh in sort of a picture frame and her earrings hang through the little holes--- super cute and functional! Personally, I like my accessories to challenge me. There's a tangled little war that has been underway for several weeks now between me, a Juicy Couture charm necklace, and a Betsy Johnson multi-strand necklace...they're tricky but I know I will win in the end!

Your nook is very much like my nook, so I may just use your nook ideas for my own nook. teehee...
It really is a good idea.
Thanks for sharing!

Great idea! My current system of piling them on top of each other and then spending 10 minutes untangling when I want to wear one is definitely not working for me. Thanks for the nice comment on my chair makeover!
