A Few of my Favorite Things:

One of my friends has a "Favorite Things" party each year in which you buy a few small items like your favorite lip gloss, a candle, or chocolates, and share them with other guests. Each person leaves with 3 little gifts, and you find new products that people really love. Kind of like on Oprah, but without the free cars or $80 t-shirts.

Anyway, I was thinking about some of my favorite things. Not like, Peace, Joy, and Hope, but things you can buy in a store.

This was hard because my two most favorite things, flannel penguin pj's, and the blue bathrobe that I am wearing right now at 11:06 a.m., are from a thrift store, so I don't even know where you could buy them.

So, what are my other favorite things?

Breville Electric Kettle: $79.99

Tea lovers rejoice! My most prized possession. I use it 8-10 times a day! It uses less electricity than heating up the stove, and it turns off automatically, so I can walk away from it without worrying about it boiling over. This is important since I almost burned down the house boiling lice combs.

Cuisinart Panini Maker and Griddle: $79.95 (sale!!)

I bought this for Tim because I was hoping he'd make me Paninis on it. Success! He can throw any kind of meat and cheese on bread and it comes out well. Add some pesto or sun dried tomatoes first...yum! We use the other side of the reversible plates for making pancakes or frying bacon or eggs. Amazon says it's regularly $185, but I always see it for under $100.

Clear Plastic Christmas Balls from Walmart: .88

At under a buck, these ornaments have endless possibilities. You could fill with sand from a beach trip, a photo of your kids, love notes, or colorful, shredded paper. I filled mine with some of Jack's Legos to hang on our tree.

Method Spray Cleaner: $2.99

Per Tim's and my pre-nup (just kidding, kind of), I clean counters frequently. I love having the kitchen smell like Cucumber, Lavender, or Grapefruit instead of chemicals and my bad cooking.

Jack's Promise Pendant from Holly Lane Designs: $48.00

Looks great when paired with a small crystal teardrop, also from HLD. This pendant is inspired by Jack and his interests. Verse, "For with God, nothing is impossible."

Chevron Scarves from Pick Your Plum:

Shoot! I just checked and these lightweight yet cozy chevron scarves are SOLD OUT! At under $5 a pop, that shouldn't surprise me. You won't catch me without one of these around my neck, inside or outside the house. I hope they'll bring this deal back!

Flocked Hangars: $1.00 each

Huggable Hangars, Slim-line hangars, call them what you will. These have transformed my closet. Somehow they miraculously make 1/3 more clothes fit into the same amount of space. And no strap slippage either! I usually buy mine at Bed Bath and Beyond or Target.

Jesus Calling Devotional by Sarah Young: $8.00 (sale) - 15.99
Great gift for a friend! This little devotional addresses the reader as if Jesus is speaking to him/her. The right words as the right time, for sure. Margaret and I just finished reading the kids' one together.

So there you have it-- a few of my favorite things. The box of rosemary and olive oil Triscuits I ate while typing this probably should have made my list, too.

What are a few of YOUR favorite things?

I love the mug I made of photos of my son and husband through Shutterfly. I think it was about $16 (and I love the fact that if something happens to it...which is SUCH a real possibility in my world...that I can just go online and order another one).

A nice bottle of Grey Goose and some anchovy stuffed olives makes my list, too. :)

Ah I knew we were meant to be friends ;-) I don't know what I'd do without my breville kettle! Victoria (your Chicks Picks sweaty fan!)

Anna,
What a fun idea! Great stuff!

I love Sleep Aromatherapy(lavender chamomile) bodywash and lotion from Bath and Body Works. Smell is so relaxing. They also make a pillow mister. My daughter loves to spray it on before bedtime. :)

My knitted prayer shawl or a crocheted scarf, which feels like a hug when I can not carry my prayer shawl around.

I too, love the Jesus Calling devotional. Read it to start my day.

I could probably think of more favorite things, but this is your blog, not mine. ;)

I've never heard of those hangers and now must try them out. Also, OMG, do you really have 8-10 cups of tea a day?!

My girlfriends and I used to do that over the holidays. I think we need to bring that tradition back. The Lego ornaments are so sweet. And that method spray - I think it's awesome!

What a fun post and that picture of the three of you is adorable.

I love your blog and this post so I think I will play too!

Neutrogena Moisture smooth Color Stick. Best lip gloss ever. Light color, smells like berries and hydrates my poor colorado chapped lips!

Chapstick -- because it would be silly to wear color at bed time.

The book "Olive the other Reindeer" totally sweet story and great animation. (the film is a little scary but the book is sweet).

Snow!

A full gas tank, a clean car and full window wiper fluid before the snow arrives!

Christmas lights on the house!

I also LOVE method, and clean counters.

That Lego ornament...such a great idea! I love tea, especially the holiday flavor from Trader Joes. I think I may need that tea pot :) I also love the smell of peppermint candles, scarves, and true blue hand lotion from Bath and Body works!

I had a similar party last spring.

Our limit was $8 an item.

I shared:
Stewart's Orange Cream soda (tastes like a Dreamsicle in a glass)
A small prep board (I use mine daily, and I hardly even cook)
A spoonspatula A sponatula?
Opi nail polish in a spring color I can't recall...
Lindor balls
Red geraniums
Ginger tea
And this time of year, Edy's slow churn peppermint ice cream

Love this! :) I was thinking of you guys the other day while at my mom's for Thanksgiving - she has a little plaque with Jack's verse on it. Made me smile!

My list of favorites:

My Kindle Fire - love that it does everything I need it to - books, movies, games...all in one. :)
My old iPod - can't beat having your favorite tunes with you
Fuzzy socks - I love when it gets colder and I can bring out my collection of soft, fuzzy socks
Clinique Happy Perfume - the only kind I can wear without getting a headache.
I can think of more, but as Jen said...this is your blog. :)

Love this post because first, I do a favorite things party too. Secondly, one of my favorite things this year was my Myers counter spray in Pine. Third, I just redid my closet with those hangers (which I got for a great deal at Costco), fourthly I read my children a devo this morning for Jesus Calling for kids, and finally....the lego ornament is precious and made me weepy. I'm going to show my 8 year old son and tell him about Jack.

Kinda wish we could get together and have our own Favorite Things party...although we might bring the same things. :-)

JAG Jeans, with their comfy belly band - they have improved my quality of life approximately 1000 percent. I owe you a Starbucks drink, if you ever come out my way, for recommending them.
