Trending Now

So I just logged on and saw that "Taco Bell Meat" was number 1 on the Yahoo "Trending Now" list that pops up on my homepage.

This is not something I want to see, because making a run for the border is one of my family's favorite activities. I do NOT intend to click the link and see what the holy heck is going on with Taco Bell's meat that would put it in the #1 spot.

Today's top ten listings range from from "Oprah's Half Sister" and "Oscar Nominations" to "Cloud Computing," whatever that is.

This made me wonder what other trends would be most unwelcome to me on "Trending Now"

Perhaps:

"Stirrup Pants"
"Un-sterile Stirrups"
"President Palin"
"Early Menopause"
"Lohan-Beiber Baby"
"Middle School Sex"
"Blogging/Weight Gain Link"

What "Trend" would YOU least like to see pop on your screen?

Look away from the comments page...

I heard on the radio today that T Bell's ground beef is only 30% beef. People are wondering what the other 70 is. I really don't care. I love it so much I'd marry it, if I wasn't already married.

Like the guy on (Christian) radio said, "If you put cheese on it, who cares?" And sour cream, of course!

Oh no. I googled it and I don't think I will ever order beef from Taco Bell again...!!

What would I NOT like to see as a trending topic? What a great question.

- Teachers More Stressed than Air Traffic Controllers

Hilarious! I JUST logged on, too, and my eye caught the Taco Bell meat notation in the sidebar of my homepage, and like you, I immediately rushed away, hoping I won't find out why it's there. I honestly have a stomachache by proxy just seeing it quickly as I did. It can't be good.

Oh....but I'm now so curious....I mustn't...

Gah! I just read the previous comments! What if the mysterious supplemental 'product' is...oh, I don't even want to imagine...(I'M IMAGINING!!!).

i've always found it interesting that TB chose to have a chiuawah (forgive the spelling, i'm too lazy to look it up) as their mascot. i made the leap immediately to dog meat. but then again, that's just me.

and ellen… marry taco bell?? jeezeohpeeze… i thought you had some standards, woman! (and i can say that b/c we're friends)

Your post is so funny. I laughed out loud when I read that Taco Bell meat made the top of the Yahoo "trending" page today. :)

Thanks for visiting my own blog, btw!

I am happy to report that I cherry-pick my data and choose to believe only that which suits me, thus never being disgusted or disappointed by anything I read online. Unless of course it is about Sara Palin, all of that is obviously true.

I clicked on the Taco Hell link last night. So not good... But at least they denied right away!

LOL. As long as they don't mess with Taco Del Mar, I'm all set. And yes, please, NO stirrup pants. Yuck!

Yes, I did wear stirrup pants, and the little boots that went with them. My excuse is that it was the first time they were popular, 1965. My hard and fast fashion rule is this:

If you wore this when it was first in fashion, you are WAY TOO OLD to wear it again.

Works for me.

And now I am imagining myself in those stretchy stirrup pants after all my visits to Taco Bell over the years. Gah.

Haha...President Palin!

I can't take one more food item that's bad.

I'm with Christy on the chocolate cream eggs.

Every headache you get is a sign of something seriously wrong with you - that would be the trending topic I don't want to see.

These were all so funny. I remember when I first heard the phrase "mechanically recoverable meat," I was obsessed with it. Tried to work it into film scripts, tried to talk a friend into changing his band name. No one else ever got how horrifyingly perfect the phrase and concept were. Apparently, this stuff is gray (no offense) and has to be dyed hamburger brown for McDonald's, and, I guess, Taco Bell.
PS: Is KCH trying to make me feel old??

Taco Bell should be proud of their meat product....it's the public school cafeteria that needs to be worried. I swear the chicken nuggets are chicken toenails ground up and breaded.

But dipped in ketchup, they're pretty darn tasty.

Hope I didn't ruin anyone's appetite.

Trending I'd hate to see...reading blogs causes cellulite to double.

Like your family, we are Taco Bell people. We will continue to happily eat whatever that other 65% is in their filling. I say leave Taco Bell alone!!!

I guess I knew in the back of my mind that Taco Bell was gross, but I just put that thought in the stack that houses items like "high school blue jeans size" and "moms in bathingsuits". I'm still going to get the chicken quesadilla.

vawriter said...

Don't you mean the "chicken" quesadilla? I don't think I want to know about that, either.
