Food for the Body and Soul

Despite my near obsessive hand-washing, I've come down with something. We're going to just hope it's a cold and not the dreaded f-word. Get your mind out of the gutter; you know I mean the flu, right? In serious need of some comfort food, so this is what I'm throwing in the crockpot tomorrow morning--  my favorite White Chicken Chili.

I know you may have other White Chicken Chili recipes, but this one requires no browning or pre-cooking and if you buy frozen onions like I do, no chopping at all. Just dump everything in and walk away. I can't stand it when a crockpot recipe requires prep! Seriously, who has time to cook dinner at breakfast time?

I hope you are having a good day, and if you are under the weather like I am, that you have a nice snuggly blanket, a hot cup of tea, and a full DVR.

The other day @ work, Jude was complaining of a headache, not feeling well..... I was like the CDC urging her to go home, I'll take your shift, really don't touch a thing, get out of here. Now.

Turns out it was a sinus headache and a couple of ibuprofen (which I never leave home without) turned her around.

I'm feeling fluish with the anxiety of waiting for it to take me down. Or I could be loco.........I can't ever tell ;) Get better.

I hope you feel better soon Anna. If you want a really easy recipe try the McCormick White chicken chili seasoning packets, they are soooo good!

Thank you for the recipe. I hope you feel better soon and I hope it isn't the f-word. So now the big question, did you get the f-vaccine? My husband and I are back and forth about whether or not to go get one at this point (we never do anything on time). Sending up extra prayers for a speedy recovery!

Oh dear! I do hope that you are feeling a lot better today. My fav comfort food when I'm feeling sick is Heinz cream of tomato soup.....I know....sad isn't it? I have to have it in a mug as well! I suppose it goes back to childhood but nothing else seems to hit the the spot as I wimper with ( probably my last breath) 'get me some soup......' Seriously all good wishes for a quick recovery. Hope you feel better soon - teh f-word has been flying around like crazy! My mom had it over Christmas, so they had to cancel their visit. Hope it's just a crud and not that - enjoy the chili, the blanket and the loaded DVD! :)

I really hope the big "F" does not land in your lap, and that very soon you will be on the mend, and back to feeling good. Get Well Soon!

This sounds so awesome - thank you for reposting it. Another easy recipe is to put a pork roast in the crock pot with a jar of salsa and a can of black beans. Then by dinner time, the meat just falls apart. We make rice bowls with lettuce, meat, sour cream, cheese, etc...The kids eat everything separate - rice on one side, meat on another, beans on another. It's easy to customize to everyone's tastes. Feel better soon!

Anna, so sorry to hear you're sick. Amazing that you could catch it from me from so far away! :) I am out of it now, and I can't believe how great it feels to be normal. Normal is way under-rated. I wanted you to know you are in my prayers and when you're better, I'd love to chat sometime. In the meantime, know you are loved. Heather

Hope you are feeling better and thanks for the recipe. We just flew to Texas and I had to wipe down our arm rests and trays. I did not want to get sick. I am also keeping those wipes with me for the stores who do not supply wipes for their carts.

hey! sorry to question your recipe but you do the crockpot for 8 hours on HIGH? or low? i thought high was for shorter amounts of time?? i suck at crockpotting so maybe this is my problem? anyway, i really want to make this but don't want to f- it up. and i don't mean flu ;)

That drives me crazy. Look forward to checking this out.

Just made this recipe today and BOY is this a KEEPER!

I halved the recipe because my crockpot is only a 3 quart size. I also cooked the food 8 hours on LOW rather than High.

Thank you, Anna!
