Bah Humbug!

Okay, so I'm a little amused/annoyed that my son wants me to buy him a $39 LEGO Advent Calendar "so the family will be able to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas," but he doesn't want to fork over his own money to buy a present (at .50 each!) for his mom, dad and sister at the school Christmas Shop.

Oh yeah, this same kid just dropped $30 PLUS SHIPPING on another LEGO set that will arrive today.

BTW, the Christmas Shop is called, "The Spirit of Giving."

Haha! Man, I remember the days of "Christmas shopping" at school and only spending about fifty cents on gifts. Miss those days! Sooo, I want to see a pic of this lego advent calendar!

My daughter is very covetous until I whip out the extremely useful "sure you can play the claw machine, buy the overpriced plastic piece of cr*p, mechanical hamster that will roll under your two ton bed and sqeak until we want to kill ourselves, (insert waste of money here)." Then she gets thrifty and decides she doesn't need the thing after all.

But your beautiful boy isn't quite grasping the true meaning o' Christmas, huh? Then again, that meaning's not found in these pop-up guilt-trip school shops, is it? I think they just get hypnotized by the stuff until they walk away, and then their true, good selves return.

A lego advent calendar... Mine are happy if we get the little carboard ones with chocolate from Trader Joe's.

My mother in law got my son that Lego advent calendar! It's pretty awesome, even though we have so much Lego around here that we need another shed to store it all in. I actually put it on my list...a Lego shed. It's making me slightly insane.

That's great! I can always tell what is truly important to my kids by just asking them how much of their own money they are willing to spend on it.

That's hilarious! At least he's the right age for that behavior. I know some 30 year old men that still have those issues. It's less funny, then. :)

Ha! That totally sounds like something my son would say, so I can relate! :)
