Lots of Photos

I've been posting baby pictures over on Facebook, but don't want to neglect you over here!

Andrew is now 5 weeks old. He weighs about 8.5 lbs and is starting to fill out a bit. He has found his voice and cries pretty much whenever we are not holding him. It sounds really, really loud to us. The good news is, he is super snuggly, a joy to hold, and I can watch Netflix over the top of his head.

He is an alert baby who fights sleep, just like his brother and sister did. I was waiting to write my next post until I had some deep thoughts about mothering after loss, mothering a baby who looks exactly like Jack, and mothering while pushing 50. Call it sleep deprivation, but the deep thoughts haven't come, so I'll just smother you with the cuteness of baby pics.

I wish you could smell him.

And feel his baby hiccups against your chest.

Don't worry, we are getting lots of pics of big sister with her baby brother, but I'm not sure which ones are okay'd for the internet yet.

  1. Oh my gosh, what an absolute cutie!!! I love when babies fall asleep being held, legs tucked under and little tushies in the air. He's adorable!

The pics of Andrew spread joy through the world!
His eyes seem to peer intensely through the camera lens right at the person looking at him!

SO happy for you and your family,

  10. Simply adorable. I am so happy for you. I have a nephew whose son died at 19. He and his wife had a surprise! baby a year later...so I have no idea what you're going through from personal experience, but I have watched them navigate the new world for the last 3 years and it sure is a roller coaster. Much love. So much joy.

  14. Oh my, he is precious! I know you're enjoying him and the baby snuggles. I remember that all the crying (the duration! the intensity! the volume!) was a shock when I had my first baby. While it wasn't so much a shock when the second one arrived, it is still a challenge to get stuff done when the choice is to hold sweet albeit needy baby or to listen to him cry while one tries to do something simple. Ah, the baby snuggles make it all worth it.

I'm not on Facebook (yes, one of eight ladies over 40 who isn't :o) And I have been checking often for pictures of your little bundle of joy, and his new family! So cute and so precious! I imagine it is so hard looking down at him and seeing Jack's face... I bet life is a strange and wild roller coaster ride for you these days - sadness and joy all at once. 28. Try the Merlin Magic sleeper it's about $49 but you know sleep is worth it at any price! My grandson wouldn't sleep swaddled in a blanket, this was a game changer for the whole family! Congrats to all of you he is just beautiful!
