Talk about putting the cart before the horse!
In a fit of procrastination, I was cruising the net and found the perfect dress for when Rare Bird comes out in September.
Sure, it's a spring dress and the book launch is more than 4 months away, but it is so very cute, and it has birds on it! Now I just need to turn in these final edits tomorrow so I'll have an occasion to wear it!
I got it from eShakti, and I do believe I have found a website that is truly a pear-shaped woman's best friend. Instead of being all MAD that I stayed inside eating all winter, I can just go a little MAD MEN and hide some stuff under the full skirt. And by Mad Men I mean Betty Draper circa 1962 not Megan Draper circa 1969 in a miniskirt and go-go boots. Whew.
Margaret says it's too long, and I agree it could be about 2 inches shorter. I think the heels help. What do you think?
If you haven't pre-ordered a copy of Rare Bird for you and your 50 closest friends (ha!), go for it!
This dress can't languish in my closet forever, right?
I hope you had a lovely Easter and that these sunny days are putting a smile on your face.
If you need a little more of a reason to smile, please let me add a little postscript to this fashion post and present to you a photo of Tim in a baby-poop brown automotive jumpsuit handed down to him by his almost 75 year old dad. Those Donaldson men sure cut a dashing figure.
You're welcome.
I love the green color of the dress...so pretty. I do agree, you need to show a little knee. Pre-ordered my copy of the book and can't wait to read it!!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of pear-shaped women - you never lose your waists. I haven't seen mine in years.
ReplyDeleteLove love love the dress! So cute and perfect for you and for the book!
ReplyDeleteI think it is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI think it is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is lovely and the post-script made me LOL.
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
PS - I can't wait to read your book.
ReplyDeleteI love that dress!!!!
The dress is adorable. If you don't get around to hemming it shorter, it works as-is with heels. So cute!! And Tim in the coveralls is quite the dangerous fashion statement as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. You are always in my prayers!
Love the dress! Very flattering.
ReplyDeleteGreat dress! Very flattering.
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful. I like the length and I like the heels. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress! Great as it is or hem it a few inches and show off those legs! Now hit those edits knowing you have found the perfect dress!
ReplyDeleteThe dress is perfect and I think it looks fab.
ReplyDeleteAdorable--love the color and love it with the heels! You can always add a black shrug if you need to in the cooler temps.
ReplyDeleteThat dress is perfect Anna! I am so looking forward to your book!

and i need a coverall in poo brown next.
Gorgeous! And I don't think it's too long at all, it looks just perfect on you! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I don't think it's too long at all -it looks just perfect on you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, just like you :)
ReplyDeleteLove the dress, the length and Mad Men!
ReplyDeleteI love the dress. Birds, pockets??? It's a keeper and so are you, dearie.
ReplyDeleteAnna,
ReplyDeleteI love the dress! It flatters your shoulders and neck so nicely. And I think the length is just right. I think if it was shorter it would lose the nice long angle of the skirt line.
Love,
Claire
The dress is dreamy and you look beautiful in it. The length is perfect with those great shoes! Oh, and make Tim change out of his 'jumpsuit' before you take him along with you! JK!
ReplyDeleteLooking so forward to your book!!
you look gorgeous!!! love the color and the cut!
ReplyDeleteThe length is just right.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress, gorgeous you!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! To me, it's very fresh, but it has a vintage feeling, and the proportion is great, just as is, but it's whatever makes you feel the best.
ReplyDeleteI think it's just perfect! You'll look great for the special occassion----as long as Tim stays in the garage in his get-up, you're good to go! :)
ReplyDeletethe dress is fantastic and I think the length is perfect. if you shorten it then it might be too close to the bottom line with the bird. that jumpsuit is stellar and the cinched belt just tops it off!! can't wait for the book!
ReplyDeleteI love the dress, it's stunning with whimsy added in.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress! It's beautiful on you. Wish I could pull off something like that. That green will be perfect in September.

I love the dress! The length is perfect. I wouldn't go shorter, you'll be so comfortable in it just as is. Maybe add a nice pashmina or short crop sweater in the bird color ... is it fuschia? Beautiful!
ReplyDeletePatti in NYC
I love the dress just the way it is.It couldn't be more perfect for the occasion.Beautiful choice :).
ReplyDeleteOoh! Love the green and the fit is great. As a fellow pear shaped woman, I'm going to check out the eShakti site.
ReplyDeleteI think the length is perfect. Modest and becoming, and simply dashing. You look lovely in it!
ReplyDeleteI thinks it's perfect the way it is. Very retro!
ReplyDeleteAnd Tim looks retro, as well, lol.
I think the dress is beautiful and the length is perfect. Just below the knee which is perfect for most legs! I know you must not have the problem - but that length can hide: boney knees, knock knees, skinny knees, fat knees - well, you get the idea.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress and it does not look like you ate all Winter!!!! You just gotta love a man in a jumpsuit :) I have pre-ordered your book on Amazon. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteI love the dress too! I also think the length is perfect and I love the shoes with it too.
ReplyDeleteI got a tear in my eye at the fact that you found a dress with birds on it and that it looks like it was made for you!
Love it, blondes always look good in green, and not too long at all. You could always buy a short sweater/, Very sweet. Pre ordered my book :) I want something to read on our mountain trip in October. God Bless you.
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE, LOVE the dress! Looks perfect on you & is such a great match for the name of the book. I can't wait for the book. You have such a great way with words & Jack's story is so important.
ReplyDeleteI love the color of that dress!
ReplyDeleteI would shorten it. Given that this is for something very professional and important id find the best tailor in town and have them take it up from the waist ( not too hard in this sort of dress). That way it will really look it's best and
ReplyDeleteAnna, you look great. I think different shoes though. Something fun in a color?
ReplyDeletejbhat
I love your cute little green bird dress! Perfect look for the book reveal. Book opening? Book sale? Gah, I'm too tired to scroll and find out what you called it.
ReplyDeleteBOOK LAUNCH. There, goodnight. :)
I just have to say that dress is gorgeous!!! love eshakti. i hate showing my knees and do all I can do hide mine so i am no help there...
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous! The dress is perfect! I am laughing at "pear-shaped"I don't think you qualify-far too skinny!
