I LOVED all the pics! They put a huge smile on my face. Jack was SUCH a beautiful baby! He had over a decade of wonderful Halloweens; you can see the joy on his face. I'll be thinking about you tomorrow; I know it wil be hard. Blessings & Love, Annie
I've been thinking of you today as we finished our Halloween preparations. Thanks for sharing pictures of your precious memories! My favorite was Dorothy and the Scary Doctor! Such characters!
I loved looking at these pictures. Jack categorized his candy? (grin)
Courage for this first Halloween my friend. Another blogging friend of mine who lost her daughter says that each day she gets through is one day closer to when she will see her again.
Beautiful pictures of your beautiful children through the years. I am thinking of you every landmark day, special day and holiday as you face them for the first time this year through the lens of your loss, Jack-less. Hugs to year this Halloween.
I can't imagine how tough it was to sort through these pictures, sort through the years. Every "first" without him hurts. Here's hoping that all of you find a bit of a smile somewhere today. You gave me one. What adorable costumes and kids.
Such beautiful kids and great costumes. I love the pic with the mad doctor and Dorothy. Thinking of you tons today, and hoping you get a wink from somewhere to again let you know Jack is close. I'm just so sorry and yes, this whole thing sucks more than anything I've ever known.
Both your kiddos are so, so cute, Anna!!!! Jack definitely knows how to pick a good costume. :) The baby pics are just too sweet. His face hardly changed at all! I know this weekend was probably so difficult for you, but I hope you got out and that Margaret had a fun Halloween.
The pictures look similar to mine in the sense that when they were young, they were innocent thomas the tank engines and grew into blood and gore! Looks like tons of fun times and happy memories!
We will be thinking of Jack as we trick or treat and praying for your family on this night without yoru beautiful boy!
Gorgeous photos -- Our kids are so the same age -- the costumes match year after year. You, Tim and Margaret are in my heart and in my thoughts and prayers every single day. Tender hugs -- Mariann Alicea PS - I found your blog a couple of days ago -- the kids want me to ask if we could visit with you and margaret. majr0328@aol.com or 703-295-0749
I've been thinking about you/praying for you all weekend. I think I have that exact same mom with bee pic from when my guys were little. Ugh. The pumpkin Tim carves is kind of amazing. Hope it makes today suck a little less... Keeping you in my heart today...
I love these pictures. I can't wait to see this years pictures of Margaret! I laughed when I saw a very adult version of Margaret's costume pop up in my facebook feed:) Carrie
I have been thinking about this day and your family throughout the weekend. I can imagine the laughter and tears as you gathered these photos. Still prayin.
So cute! I love the contrast of the pictures of your kids with their candy - Jack with his sorted in neat piles and Margaret protectively huddled over hers.
These are priceless! So many great memories. Love them all. I think I remember Margaret being Dorothy. Was that kindergarten? I have some more pictures of Jack I am working on pulling together for you. I'll bring them by sometime soon. Tell Margaret Bailey says hi and we are working on the Bieber thing, even though Bailey claims she can't stand him (while listening to his songs over and over). I'm sure today must be very hard. I'm glad you are using the pictures to remind you of all those happy memories. Anna still prays for you every single night: "I pray for Jack that he's having lots of fun up there and that he and his family don't miss each other too much." Hoping you can find some smiles and maybe even a little bit of laughter today.
It's rare to see a big brother/little sister pairing like Jack and Margaret. I bet you never had to say, "Okay guys, act like you like eachother..." before taking their picture. I love the ones (both in this post and in others) where she's literally clinging to him...she just loves him that darn much.
Your kiddos are just adorable. Adorable, Anna. I'm betting that Jack was beyond thrilled to dress as Thomas back in the day--was it for two years running? And I'm also betting that Margaret LOVED getting to wear eye makeup. I know I would have at that age.
Too much cuteness going on!!! Love cute lil Jack in the Bumblebee costume!!! Hehehe Jack sure made costumes even more appealing. ;) What a beautiful & special little boy he was. Happy Halloween Jack!!!!
Anna... thank you so much for sharing these wonderful pictures and memories with us. I especially love the one of M and the candy corn, and the pirate pair... what a great duo they must have been that year. I also love the one of the two of them taken at the parade. (I also love the rodents on the stairs!)
(((HUGS))) to you this day, this night, from the other side of town
Not sure if you, or anyone else, is able to read these comments, but I'm going to hope you do. I have had a business doing handpainted work for the past 12 years. I have some beautiful antique door panels that I often paint Bible verses or phrases onto. It would be the greatest of blessings to me if you would allow me to paint your "Rare Bird" poem onto one of them and send it to you. I can ship it to a friend, business, whatever, I do not want your home address or anything else creepy :) I am touched daily by your story, and would love to use my talent to celebrate your little boy. kimelkins@bellsouth.net
I remember some of these costumes and seeing jack & margaret in them. I am thinking of you today as you go through this 1st of halloween and how hard it is.sending you love and prayers & hugs
Thank you for sharing this and everything you share with us. I feel like I know your family so well...and yet I am just a stranger. I pray for your family daily. The photo of Jack scaring his sister dressed as Dorthy and her expression while leaning back...priceless. Hugs
The milestones and "big days" will be brutal (more brutal? who knows) this year...thank you again, as always, for letting us have this window into your family ...so uncanny to trace the costumes of a little baby, then little boy, then bigger boy - my boys were bugs, then thomas, then buzz...pirates, jedi (or sith) ...
I've been reading your blog since you lost your sweet boy, Jack. Looking at these beautiful images from Halloweens past, I am reminded that for some occasions, there are simply no words. As I was out trick-or-treating yesterday with my kids, I was thinking of and praying for you, a woman I've never met and probably never will. I am so very sorry for your loss. Please know that you and your family remain in the thoughts and prayers of countless people just like me. May God continue to hold you close.
I had to smile at the picture of Jack grouping all his candy in like piles. I'm sure everyone does something with their candy and that's what I did with mine and I had forgotten about that until seeing that pic.
What a beautiful series of photos!

ReplyDeleteJack looks a little ticked in one--Darth Vader? Was it because he had to remove the hat/helmet?
ReplyDeleteLove the one of him sorting his candy, so much loot!
Is Margaret dressing up today?
